HEAD OF COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: The Charleston County Library, headquartered in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina, is looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic librarian to help our Collection Development and Technical Services Department, LCATS, to continue to excel in providing our customers, both internal and external, with a collection that fulfills the need of the community using modern library techniques and technologies that allows us to operate in the most efficient manner.

The LCATS Manager is part of the Administrative Unit and performs difficult and administrative work planning, selecting, evaluating and maintaining all library materials' collections. Under the supervision of the Executive Library Director, this position is responsible for system-wide selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing and display of all print, audio-visual and electronic materials. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree with six (6) years post master's professional public library experience with three (3) years of management/administrative experience. Well developed communication skills; ability to plan and coordinate the work of others. Must have the stamina for periods of sitting, standing and walking. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification; a valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $56,064.50 - $76,247.72 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARIAN III/LARGE BRANCH MANAGER - COOPER RIVER MEMORIAL LIBRARY:
Full time position. Under the supervision of the Otranto Road Regional Branch Manager, responsibility for the overall operation of a large branch; supervisory responsibilities for staff. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of library services and administration, good knowledge of library materials. Initiates, plans coordinates and delivers programs at the branch and in the community. Ability to exercise leadership and motivate others, to plan and coordinate the work of others, to write concise reports, to analyze community and user needs; to access effectiveness of collection and services. Must have the ability to train and supervise staff; possess initiative and tact; participate on system-wide committees. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities to maintain branch operations in a cluster team environment. Must be computer literate with strong computer skills, particularly using Microsoft Suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with three (3) years post master's professional experience with progressively more responsible experience in a public library; creative approach to branch management with well-developed communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and staff; detail oriented and a team player. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $44,694.27 - $60,784.21 annually depending on qualifications.

LIBRARIAN I - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL: Full time entry level professional position. Responsible for the provision of juvenile services at a regional branch library. Basic knowledge of modern principles and practices of services; general knowledge of children's materials; procedure, policy, aims and services for public libraries. Skilled in the performance of library tasks, ability to work well with people, especially children, in groups and individual settings of varied backgrounds and ages. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher a plus. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Other duties as assigned. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting. Shelving library materials may also be required. Must be able to lift books, AV equipment, program materials weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree; specialized subject knowledge of skills developed through work experience where appropriate. Hiring Salary Range: $36,988.12 - $50,303.85 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

P/T LIBRARY ASSISTANT III - ST. PAUL'S/HOLLYWOOD BRANCH LIBRARY:
Part time position; thirty (30) hours per week. Responsible for assisting with the provision of library services in a small branch library. Responsibilities include performing routine circulation duties, handling information inquiries, and assisting customers of all ages; may include planning and conducting programs for children. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Must be computer literate, detail oriented and customer focused. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and/or push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Must have the stamina for periods of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending and stooping. High aptitude for library work and customer service; significant understanding of basic aims and services of libraries; initiative; resourcefulness; good judgment; orderliness; accuracy; tact; adaptability, ability to get along well with others; ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with the general public and library staff. REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate with two (2) years of public library or related experience. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $12.66 per hour - $17.21 per hour depending on qualifications - thirty (30) hours per week. Closing date: November 21, 2014.

LIBRARY PAGE - JOHN'S ISLAND REGIONAL LIBRARY:
The duties of this position include but are not limited to shelving library materials; basic maintenance of the collection and premises. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary: $7.55 per hour - fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: November 21, 2014.
