Make a Difference - Be a Library Volunteer!

Charleston County Public Library is always looking for volunteers who want to get involved and help with programs, projects, special events and helping patrons. If you're interested, download a Volunteer Application and return it to any of our branch locations, or contact Susan Bednar at 805-6826 and help make a difference.

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Main Library, Public Relations Department: We are looking for a detail orientated person to do computer data entry, folding brochures, sorting books and library brochures and nonlibrary publications, and other tasks as assigned for one day a week.

  • Dorchester Road Regional Library, Children’s Services: Looking for a volunteer to cut materials for children’s programming, coordinate book displayssort book carts for shelving, clean computers/shelves in Children’s Services area, straightening shelves and to do other duties as assigned. 

  • Dorchester Road Regional Library, Reference Department: Looking for a volunteer to shelf read, organize newspapers, pull items for the weeding list and floating, check books for damage, and check printed Spanish translations (could be done by email).
