Getting Started with MyiLibrary Audio Books @ CCPL
The basics:
-
-
You need your own computer with an Internet connection.
-
You may check out up to two downloadable audio books at one time.
-
The checkout time is 14 days unless you choose to check the audio book out for fewer days. When you check out a downloadable audio book, you can shorten the borrowing time to as few as 7 days—or any number of days between 7 and 14. Once the downloadable audio book is checked out to you, the due date may not be changed.
-
Downloadable audio books may not be returned early if they have been downloaded. The audio book will expire at the due date and may no longer be accessible for listening, depending on your device.
-
No overdue fines! MyiLibrary downloadable audio books are automatically returned when due.
-
A book cannot be renewed, but you may check it out again if there is no hold on it.
-
You may reserve (hold) up to two downloadable audio books for checkout. You will receive an email when a reserved book is available for you to download. That book’s checkout period begins when the email is sent to you. Please note that a hold cannot be delivered if you already have two downloadable audio books checked out.
-
-
The Charleston County Public Library has contracted with Ingram Digital for this audio book service. If you have questions regarding the privacy of library patron records used to access this service, please read the Ingram Digital privacy policy.
Choosing and checking out downloadable audio books:
Go to Charleston County Public Library's MyiLibrary Collection.
-
Have your library card number ready for checking out and reserving downloadable audio books.
-
Find titles by using the search box or click on “view all audio books in this collection.” Look below the search box for other ways to search for downloadable audio books in our collection.
-
Titles available for immediate checkout have an “Add to bookshelf” button next to them. Audio books already checked out have a “Place a hold” button next to them.
-
To check out an audio book, select your checkout period from the drop-down menu next to the title (from 7 to 14 days) and click the “Add to bookshelf” button.
-
Reserve a title checked out to someone else by clicking the “Place a hold” button. You will receive an email when that book is available for you to download. The book’s checkout period begins when the email is sent to you. You may have two reserves (holds) on your bookshelf at a time.
-
A hold cannot be delivered to you if you have two downloadable audio books checked out.
-
When you check out and reserve downloadable audio books, the titles are put on your bookshelf. It’s a list of audio books you have checked out as well as a list of audio books that you have on hold. You use your bookshelf to review and download audio books you have selected. It can hold up to two titles currently checked out and up to two holds. Click here for more information about your bookshelf.
-
Downloaded titles remain on your bookshelf available for listening until the end of the checkout period. Once downloaded, a book cannot be returned early.
-
You can delete titles on your bookshelf that you have not downloaded.
