DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES - ADMINISTRATION - MAIN LIBRARY
: Change Agent wanted! CCPL is looking for a Deputy Director of Library Services. This is an exciting time of transformation at the library system and this opportunity will offer the right person a tremendous amount of growth and excitement. Three library building projects are underway, with two more buildings slated; and 13 building renovations to follow. CCPL is also migrating to RFID, Self-check and Automated Material Handling. This position will help to initiate change in the organization and be influential in executing a new vision for the library system!

Job Description:
• Assesses and evaluates branch and department performance through frequent branch visits, analysis of a variety of statistical data, regular meetings with staff, and patron feedback.
• Assists the Executive Director in handling patron complaints or problems regarding library services or policies.
• Provides overall supervision, leadership, direction and guidance to public service managers.
• Assists in the preparation of the library's Strategic Plan
• Directly supervises managers of several library departments or branches as identified within the library's organizational structure.
• Assists in monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures as well as workload, administrative and support systems, and internal relationships.
• Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating, through subordinate-level staff, the department work plan; meets with management staff to identify and resolve problems; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; and reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures.
• Attends monthly board of trustee meetings and takes necessary action regarding agenda items.
• Participates as a member of the Administrative team in leadership and governance of the library.
• Reviews requests for grants, approves submittal, and shares information concerning grant opportunities with appropriate staff.
• Exercises decision making skills in developing policy and procedure, staff and patron issues, program coordination, and budget evaluation.
• Attends or conducts various meetings and training sessions at meeting sites throughout the library system.

ASSISTANT FINANCE DIRECTOR - FINANCE SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. This responsible professional position assists in the overall direction and coordination of the daily activities of the Finance Department of the Charleston County Library. Strong analytical, financial reporting, organizational and interpersonal skills are critical to be successful in this position. Other duties include: directing staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting records, managing personnel, reviewing reports for completeness and accuracy and assisting with the annual audit as well as internal financial reports. Familiarity with Government Accounting Standards Board and Governmental Finance Officers Association principles and practices is needed. This position manages payroll and accounts payable functions as well as fills in as needed for these positions. Additionally, this position prepares and oversees the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts as well as analysis and compilation of revenues and expenditures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles applicable to local governments and related computer application skills are essential. Specific duties include:

• Collaborates with Executive Director and other department heads to execute long term vision for the 21st century library.

LIBRARIAN III/LARGE BRANCH MANAGER - JOHN L. DART LIBRARY
: Full time position. Responsible for the overall management of a busy community library. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of library services and administration; good knowledge of library materials; participates in collection development. Ability to hire, supervisor, provide leadership and motivate others, to plan and coordinate the work of others, to write concise reports, analyze community and user needs, and service effectiveness. Initiate, plan and coordinate programs within the branch as well as outreach. Must have the ability to train and supervise staff, possess initiative and tact. LIBRARIAN II - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. The Assistant Children's Department Manager is responsible for the operations of the department in the absence of the Children's Manager. This candidate is responsible for supervising Children's Department page(s) and volunteers, assists with staff schedules, compiles statistical reports, enforces all library policies and procedures. In our fast growing system, this candidate will work with the Children's Coordinator on designated system wide projects. The successful candidate must have exceptional knowledge and competency of modern principles and practices in children's services for children from infancy to fifth grade. Must demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of children's literature and materials, both print and electronic. Provide reader's advisory and information services to customers of the Children's Department. Knowledge of and experience with parent education initiative, Every Child Ready to Read, and early literacy skills desirable. LIBRARIAN II - LCATS - MAIN LIBRARY: Under general direction, the Collection Development Librarian will evaluate, select, and maintain various library collections in multiple formats and age ranges, including five Opening Day Collections for new buildings.
Essential Position Functions:
• Identify library material for purchase and monitor demand
• Track materials budget expenditures and anticipate budget needs
• Participate in weeding schedules, special weeding projects, and staff training
• Meet with vendor representatives to review products, services, and give feedback
• Perform copy cataloging and database maintenance for catalog consistency and accuracy
• Analyze collection needs and redistribute material
• Maintain effective proficiency using vendor websites and platforms, the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS, CollectionHQ, and other software tools

LIBRARIAN I - CCPL TECH TEAM - TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST - MAIN LIBRARYFull-time position. Performs a variety of library functions under professional supervision. Responsible for training staff and the general public in the use of technology, including software, online tools, and mobile devices, during classes, programs, and public computer sessions. Assistance may be provided in person, by phone, or by email. Duties include developing training materials, conducting staff and public training sessions at Main and the branches, maintaining staff training records, assisting with scheduling, and performing other administrative tasks. LIBRARIAN I - REFERENCE SERVICES - DORCHESTER ROAD REGIONAL LIBRARY
: Full time entry level position available for an energetic, team-oriented librarian desiring supervisory experience. Duties include: providing reference services in person and by telephone; may assist paraprofessional staff specializing in young adult services; planning and presenting programs, classes and outreach events for adults and young adults; helping to develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, community groups, agencies and non-profits that target youth and adults in order to plan and deliver programs and services; and developing assessment tools for community service needs. PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT-MAIN LIBRARY
: This is a temporary part time position, twenty-nine (29) hours per week supervised by the Public Relations/Marketing Manager. Duties include: merge, format, fact check, proofread and edit CCPL's event and programming information received from the branches and departments each month; including contacting the branches and departments, if needed to verify information or seek missing information. Develop merged documents of CCPL's monthly events, and sort the information into various formats required for publicity and promotional needs. Format and post each of the Library's monthly programs on the Library's website (www.ccpl.org) and tag them individually by location and program type so they can be accessed within the Library's searchable online event calendar. Work with staff to post any Web updates, headlines and other information needed on the Library's website, and schedule social media posts. If required, assist with research and reports needed for special projects, assist with folding/cutting/disseminating printed promotional materials; provide writing/editing/proofreading assistance. Assist patrons over the phone or in person. Must have excellent computer skills such as those included in the Microsoft Office suite.QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications or related fields including a background in writing/editing/proofreading and media relations. LIBRARY ASSISTANT V - REFERENCE SERVICES - MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL BRANCH: Full-time position. Provide reader's advisory and information services to patrons of all ages at the Reference Services desk; with guidance from reference librarians, plan and provide in-house programs for adults on a variety of subjects and contribute to outreach to the adult population in the community; maintain assigned shelving area by processing new books, shelf reading, and weeding; prepare forms, flyers, and reports; may write branch newspaper column and/or branch blog about library services; other duties as assigned. Performs functions under guidance of the Circulation Services Supervisor, including public service desk duties, routine library functions, assigned off-desk duties, and general clerical work. : Full time position. Under the supervision of the Reference Services Manager, responsible for providing reader's advisory/reference and information services at the reference desk and via telephone, including recording daily reference statistics. LIBRARY ASSISTANT I - CIRCULATION SERVICES - COOPER RIVER MEMORIAL BRANCH: Full time entry level position. Performs routine library functions under professional supervision. Perform routine circulation desk duties under professional supervision; carries out procedures set by supervisory staff; help patrons locate materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations. Shelving library materials may also be required. Ability to get along well with others, ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary $7.55 per hour - Fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: Open until positions are filled.
