LIBRARIAN III/ BRANCH MANAGER - JAMES ISLAND LIBRARYAn energetic, customer-focused individual is needed for the position of Branch Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service, assuring high productivity and maintaining high staff morale at a busy community library. The successful candidate should be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, innovative ideas and awareness of emerging trends, technologies and best practices in public library services. Must have strong computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. Individual must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when required. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with three (3) years post master's professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library, including supervisory experience. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. Salary: $44,699.20-60,777.60 depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled. 

LIBRARIAN II - LCATS - MAIN LIBRARY
: Under general direction, the Collection Development Librarian will evaluate, select, and maintain various library collections in multiple formats and age ranges, including five Opening Day Collections for new buildings. 
Essential Position Functions:
• Identify library material for purchase and monitor demand
• Track materials budget expenditures and anticipate budget needs
• Participate in weeding schedules, special weeding projects, and staff training
• Meet with vendor representatives to review products, services, and give feedback
• Perform copy cataloging and database maintenance for catalog consistency and accuracy
• Analyze collection needs and redistribute material 
• Maintain proficiency using vendor websites and platforms, the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS, CollectionHQ, and other software tools
• Collaborate with library staff to design and implement displays and merchandizing improvements of library material
• Assist the Collections Manager with reports, interdepartmental collaboration, committee service, and updates/improvements to department procedures and collection guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school
• One year of collection development experience in a library
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading and editing
• Ability to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and online ordering
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. 
Physical requirements:
• Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and move boxes up to 35 pounds and push loaded book trucks
• Ability to perform repetitive motions such as opening AV cases
• Ability to bend, reach, shelve and shift material, and pack/unpack boxes and bins
Salary Range: $41,433 to $46,633.60 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position filled.

TRAINING SPECIALIST - HUMAN RESOURCES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. Reporting to the Training and Development Coordinator. This position coordinates all training activities under the supervision of the Training Coordinator. Design and conduct new employee orientation and staff training; develop and construct training manuals and training aids; coordinate participation of external training programs for library staff; maintain training attendance records. Other duties as assigned. Must have stamina for walking, standing, prolonged sitting, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of Training and Employee Development; basic statistical and record keeping processes. Ability to relate and maintain strict confidentiality and sensitivity to all employees; to work tactfully and effectively with employees, the general public and officials. Ability to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operations. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work as part of a team and to carry out assignments independently. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.REQUIREMENTS: Master of Library Science Degree preferred with courses in human resources training and development programs or closely related field and five (5) years of experience in Training and Development. LIBRARY ASSISTANT IV - CIRCULATION SUPERVISOR - ST. ANDREWS REGIONALAs a circulation supervisor, you will be a member of the management team for a regional library who contributes to our inviting and innovative link to the world. Responsibilities include supervision of circulation support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing workroom operations. You will maintain statistical records of your department and recommend policy and procedural changes to the Regional Branch Manager or Main Library's Circulation Services Manager. As a natural leader, you will ensure that circulation policies and procedures are implemented effectively, and will create a fresh approach at managing and resolving both operational and personnel issues. Since you are a person who enjoys working with diverse customers of all ages, you will seek out ways to solve customer problems and create win-win situations. You are the key model for outstanding customer service for your staff and the champion of building a positive team spirit. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite. Must be able to troubleshoot and communicate maintenance needs for computers and library equipment. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Evening and weekend hours included. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, and pushing book carts weighing up to 100 pounds. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree; 3 years library or related experience, or 2 years (60 credit hours) of college plus 5 years of experience in a related area. High aptitude for library service; thorough understanding of basic aims and services of libraries; good judgment; accuracy, tact, flexibility; ability to get along well with others.  Hiring salary range: $29, 494.40-$40, 102.40 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

MASCOT PERFORMER - PUBLIC RELATIONS: Part-time, temporary position. The employee is responsible for wearing the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) Children's Department's Owlbert mascot costume at CCPL branches and at local outreach events. All appearances are scheduled by CCPL and could include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. The employee will wear the Owlbert costume to represent Charleston County Public Library and must project an outgoing, positive personality while interacting with others. This employee should enjoy greeting and interacting with other people and must commit to a pre-planned schedule of appearances. Willingness to travel within the Charleston region for community events is necessary. Salary: $14 per hour.

Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary $7.55 per hour - Fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: Open until positions are filled.
