DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES - ADMINISTRATION - MAIN LIBRARY
: Change Agent wanted! CCPL is looking for a Deputy Director of Library Services. This is an exciting time of transformation at the library system and this opportunity will offer the right person a tremendous amount of growth and excitement. Three library building projects are underway, with two more buildings slated; and 13 building renovations to follow. CCPL is also migrating to RFID, Self-check and Automated Material Handling. Job Description:
• Assesses and evaluates branch and department performance through frequent branch visits, analysis of a variety of statistical data, regular meetings with staff, and patron feedback.
• Assists the Executive Director in handling patron complaints or problems regarding library services or policies.
• Provides overall supervision, leadership, direction and guidance to public service managers.
• Assists in the preparation of the library's Strategic Plan
• Directly supervises managers of several library departments or branches as identified within the library's organizational structure.
• Assists in monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures as well as workload, administrative and support systems, and internal relationships.
• Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating, through subordinate-level staff, the department work plan; meets with management staff to identify and resolve problems; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; and reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures.
• Attends monthly board of trustee meetings and takes necessary action regarding agenda items.
• Participates as a member of the Administrative team in leadership and governance of the library.
• Reviews requests for grants, approves submittal, and shares information concerning grant opportunities with appropriate staff.
• Exercises decision making skills in developing policy and procedure, staff and patron issues, program coordination, and budget evaluation.

ASSISTANT FINANCE DIRECTOR - FINANCE SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. This responsible professional position assists in the overall direction and coordination of the daily activities of the Finance Department of the Charleston County Library. Strong analytical, financial reporting, organizational and interpersonal skills are critical to be successful in this position. Other duties include: directing staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting records, managing personnel, reviewing reports for completeness and accuracy and assisting with the annual audit as well as internal financial reports. Familiarity with Government Accounting Standards Board and Governmental Finance Officers Association principles and practices is needed. This position manages payroll and accounts payable functions as well as fills in as needed for these positions. Additionally, this position prepares and oversees the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts as well as analysis and compilation of revenues and expenditures. IT SERVICES SPECIALIST - IT SERVICES: Are you passionate about technology? Do you love libraries? Charleston County Public Library is looking for the next IT guru! This is an exciting time to join our IT Services department. Three library building projects are underway, with two more buildings slated; and 13 building renovations to follow. Specific duties include:
• Provides daily support (assessment, evaluation, maintenance, and repair) for all PC systems (hardware and software) and their peripherals at all branches.
• Replaces PC hardware and handles any necessary reimaging or configuring.
• Responds to support issues, questions, comments, and requests in a courteous, timely manner.
• Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning PC system use.
• Keeps the IT Services Manager and local branch or department managers fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
• Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, training sessions, and reviews materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.

HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST - ADMINISTRATION SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY:
Full time position. Reports to the HR Manager. Coordinates human resources activities for the library system such as employment, recordkeeping, compensation benefits and employee relations. Serves as consultant to administration and management staff on human resources management; maintains compliance with state and federal laws and approved library policies. Responsible for providing staff assistance and instruction to supervisors and branch/department heads regarding interpreting and carrying out library's policies and procedures; counsel staff supervisors on HR related issues and/or problems. Serves as recruitment and employment coordinator for the library; coordinates employment process including recruiting, advertising vacancies, receiving and screening applications, interviews, selection and hiring, reference checks, drug screening and new hire physicals. Confers with the Human Resources Manager, managers/supervisors for approval of new hires, promotions, lateral transfers, demotions and terminations. Provides assistance to the public and employees regarding vacancies and employment application status. Ensures accurate and timely payroll records and information are submitted to the Finance Office. LIBRARIAN II - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. The Assistant Children's Department Manager is responsible for the operations of the department in the absence of the Children's Manager. This candidate is responsible for supervising Children's Department page(s) and volunteers, assists with staff schedules, compiles statistical reports, enforces all library policies and procedures. In our fast growing system, this candidate will work with the Children's Coordinator on designated system wide projects. The successful candidate must have exceptional knowledge and competency of modern principles and practices in children's services for children from infancy to fifth grade. Must demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of children's literature and materials, both print and electronic. Provide reader's advisory and information services to customers of the Children's Department. LIBRARIAN II - LCATS - MAIN LIBRARY: Under general direction, the Collection Development Librarian will evaluate, select, and maintain various library collections in multiple formats and age ranges, including five Opening Day Collections for new buildings.
Essential Position Functions:
• Identify library material for purchase and monitor demand
• Track materials budget expenditures and anticipate budget needs
• Participate in weeding schedules, special weeding projects, and staff training
• Meet with vendor representatives to review products, services, and give feedback
• Perform copy cataloging and database maintenance for catalog consistency and accuracy

LIBRARIAN I - CCPL TECH TEAM - TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST - MAIN LIBRARYFull-time position. Performs a variety of library functions under professional supervision. Responsible for training staff and the general public in the use of technology, including software, online tools, and mobile devices, during classes, programs, and public computer sessions. Assistance may be provided in person, by phone, or by email. : Full time entry level position available for an energetic, team-oriented librarian desiring supervisory experience. : Full time position. Under the supervision of the Reference Services Manager, responsible for providing reader's advisory/reference and information services at the reference desk and via telephone, including recording daily reference statistics. LIBRARY ASSISTANT III - CIRCULATION SUPERVISOR - JOHN L. DART LIBRARY:
Full-time position. Provides general circulation services, including registering new borrowers, updating patron records, placing holds, checking in and out library materials, renewing materials, taking reserves, locating materials, issuing library cards, using automated SIRSI library system; assists patrons with basic informational and directional requests, assists patrons in use of public terminals, copiers, and other equipment. Full-time position. Performs functions under guidance of the Circulation Services Manager, including public service desk duties, routine library functions, assigned off-desk duties, and general clerical work. May also be required to shelve library materials. Requires basic knowledge of modern library organization, materials, procedures, policies, aims and services. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher a plus.
