HEAD OF COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: The Charleston County Library, headquartered in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina, is looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic librarian to help our Collection Development and Technical Services Department, LCATS, to continue to excel in providing our customers, both internal and external, with a collection that fulfills the need of the community using modern library techniques and technologies that allows us to operate in the most efficient manner.

The LCATS Manager is part of the Administrative Unit and performs difficult and administrative work planning, selecting, evaluating and maintaining all library materials' collections. Under the supervision of the Executive Library Director, this position is responsible for system-wide selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing and display of all print, audio-visual and electronic materials. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree with six (6) years post master's professional public library experience with three (3) years of management/administrative experience. Well developed communication skills; ability to plan and coordinate the work of others. Must have the stamina for periods of sitting, standing and walking. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification; a valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $56,064.50 - $76,247.72 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARIAN III/CIRCULATION SERVICES MANAGER - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. Provides overall management for the Circulation Services Department; oversees all aspects of extensive circulation policies and procedures and effectively resolves related issues and problems; interprets and communicates to public and staff regarding policies/procedures. Provides training on Circulation Services and Integrated Library System (ILS) for staff; including the material recovery program; collaborates with the Systems Department on circulation related recommendation and ILS upgrades; manages the system-wide floating procedures; conducts monthly meetings with circulation managers and/or branch managers; serves as night supervisor for Main Library as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances as they arise. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to demonstrate good judgment, ability to deliver exemplary customer experiences; strong supervisory skills; ability to support and actively promote team members and team activities. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operation. Must be able to lift books, AV equipment, program materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. LIBRARIAN III/ASSISTANT REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER AND REFERENCES SERVICES DEPARTMENT HEAD - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL: Full time position. This position is that of Assistant Regional Branch Manager and Reference Services Department Manager at the Regional Branch. Assistant Regional Branch Manager duties include: management of the library on a day to day basis; prepares staff schedules; prepares and submits payroll timesheets; compile statistical reports, writes memos, documentation; reports and correspondence; enforces all library policies and procedures; assists the Regional Branch Manager with annual development of staff performance evaluations; may represent the library in the community. As Reference Services Department Manager, responsible for the provision of materials and programs, as well as adult programming for Reference Services at the Regional Branch. Good knowledge of bibliographic tools and sources; broad knowledge of library methods and procedures; ability to carry assignments independently; to meet people easily and participate in the activities of the community. LIBRARIAN I/REFERENCE SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time entry level professional position. Responsible for the provision of references services under general supervision. Basic knowledge of materials; basic knowledge of modern library organization, procedure, policy, aims and services, elementary skill in the performance of library tasks. Must have familiarity with digital/mobile technologies and enthusiasm for community outreach. Ability to get along well with others and to communicate pleasantly and effectively with the general public and library staff. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operations. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software - Microsoft, Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. LIBRARIAN I - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL: Full time entry level professional position. Responsible for the provision of juvenile services at a regional branch library. Basic knowledge of modern principles and practices of services; general knowledge of children's materials; procedure, policy, aims and services for public libraries. Skilled in the performance of library tasks, ability to work well with people, especially children, in groups and individual settings of varied backgrounds and ages. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher a plus. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Other duties as assigned. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff. LIBRARY ASSISTANT V - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. Provide children's services under the supervision of the Children's Department Head at the Main Library. Perform public service desk duties, provide juvenile services, create attractive displays, and conduct creative children's programs, storytime/storytelling and puppetry programs. Exceptional knowledge and competency of modern principles and practices of children's services for children from infancy to fifth grade, children's literature and materials, modern library organization, procedures, policies aims and services. Knowledge of child development, early literacy skills and Every Child Read to Read. Documentation of programming experience at interview desirable (i.e. flyers, posters, photographs, etc.) Must have exceptional knowledge of library tasks, ability to get along well with others and communicate pleasantly and effectively with the general public and library staff and the ability to work well with people in groups and in individual settings. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Must be detail oriented and flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operation. Must have scheduling flexibility and a strong interest in conducting children's programs, outreach and public service desk coverage. Proficiency with arts and crafts and puppetry desirable. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Must have the stamina for periods of standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending and stooping. May also be required to push book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, four (4) years of public library or related experience, preferably with early childhood education experience and background. High aptitude for library work; significant understanding of basic aims and services; adaptability, ability to get along well with others, ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with the general public and library staff. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $33,025.13 - $44,914.18 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARY PAGE - DORCHESTER REGIONAL LIBRARY: The duties of this position include but are not limited to shelving library materials; basic maintenance of the collection and premises. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary: $7.55 per hour - fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: December 19, 2014.
