LIBRARIAN IV/REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER - HURD/ST. ANDREWS: This person will manage the Regional Library with oversight of other branches within the regional cluster to foster cooperation, training, shared programming and staffing. Reports to the Deputy Director. Works with other Regional Branch Managers and Department Managers to help achieve the vision, mission and goals of the Charleston County Public Library. Must be a forward thinker with demonstrated skills in the areas of technology and innovation. Must be a strong library advocate devoted to providing excellent customer service to the community. Must have the ability to exercise leadership and be able to motivate others to achieve these goals. Must be able to train and supervise staff and possess the necessary skills to motivate staff to be the best they can be. Ability to write concise reports, analyze community needs, the needs of the collection, the effectiveness of services and be able to communicate those needs to the appropriate departments and supervisors. Must be flexible and able to assume any additional responsibilities to maintain branch operation. Must have extensive knowledge of library principles, trends and administration; knowledgeable of Children's, Circulation and Reference services. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree and four (4) years post masters professional library experience in a public library with two (2) of those years in a supervisory capacity. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. Hiring Salary Range: $50,065.60 - $68,078.40 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled. 

LIBRARIAN III/ BRANCH MANAGER - JAMES ISLAND LIBRARY: An energetic, customer-focused individual is needed for the position of Branch Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service, assuring high productivity and maintaining high staff morale at a busy community library. The successful candidate should be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, innovative ideas and awareness of emerging trends, technologies and best practices in public library services. Must have strong computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. Individual must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when required. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with three (3) years post master's professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library, including supervisory experience. LIBRARIAN I - REFERENCE SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time entry-level position available for an energetic, team-oriented librarian desiring supervisory experience. Duties include: providing reference services in person and by telephone; planning and presenting programs, classes, and outreach events for adults and young adults; helping to develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, community groups, agencies and non-profits that target youth and adults in order to plan and deliver programs and services; managing the Foundation Center Database; supervising department's two pages. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of materials and databases; basic knowledge of modern library organization, procedures, policies, aims and services; elementary skill in the performance of library tasks; basic knowledge of youth and adult services; the desire to learn how to effectively supervise another employee; and the desire to learn and stay current with emerging technology, including digital media assisting patrons with downloads. Must be able to get along well with others and to communicate pleasantly and effectively with the public and library staff, orally and in writing, and be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Must have a strong interest in conducting adult programs and community outreach. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. LIBRARY ASSISTANT IV - CIRCULATION SUPERVISOR - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL: As a circulation supervisor, you will be a member of the management team for a regional library who contributes to our inviting and innovative link to the world. Responsibilities include supervision of circulation support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing workroom operations. You will maintain statistical records of your department and recommend policy and procedural changes to the Regional Branch Manager or Main Library's Circulation Services Manager. As a natural leader, you will ensure that circulation policies and procedures are implemented effectively, and will create a fresh approach at managing and resolving both operational and personnel issues. Since you are a person who enjoys working with diverse customers of all ages, you will seek out ways to solve customer problems and create win-win situations. You are the key model for outstanding customer service for your staff and the champion of building a positive team spirit. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite. Must be able to troubleshoot and communicate maintenance needs for computers and library equipment. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Evening and weekend hours included. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, and pushing book carts weighing up to 100 pounds. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree; 3 years library or related experience, or 2 years (60 credit hours) of college plus 5 years of experience in a related area. High aptitude for library service; thorough understanding of basic aims and services of libraries; good judgment; accuracy, tact, flexibility; ability to get along well with others.  Hiring salary range: $29, 494.40-$40, 102.40 annually depending on qualifications. LIBRARY ASSISTANT I - JAMES ISLAND BRANCH LIBRARY - CIRCULATION/CHILDREN'S SERVICES:
Part-time entry level position - twenty (20) hours per week. Perform routine circulation desk duties under professional supervision; carries out procedures set by supervisory staff; help patrons locate materials. Assists Children's Librarian with programs including story time and summer reading. Duties may include conducting story times for children birth through age five (5), preparing and conducting crafts. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software and applications - Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations. Shelving library materials may also be required. Ability to get along well with others, ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and with library staff. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and/or push book carts weighing approximately one hundred (100) pounds. REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate with excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others, ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and with library staff, a strong work ethic. Salary: $10.09 per hour - $13.72 per hour depending on qualifications - twenty (20) hours per week - NO INSURANCE BENEFITS. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARY PAGES - (SIX {6} VACANCIES) - (1) HURD/ST ANDREWS; (2) COOPER RIVER; (1) JAMES ISLAND; (1) MAIN REFERENCE (1) VILLAGE: The duties of these positions include but are not limited to shelving library materials; basic maintenance of the collection and premises. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary $7.55 per hour - Fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: Open until positions are filled.
