LIBRARIAN IV/REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER - HURD/ST ANDREWS AND JOHN'S ISLAND REGIONAL: There are two (2) full time positions, one located at Hurd/St Andrews and the other at the John's Island branch. This person will manage the Regional Library with oversight of other branches within the regional cluster to foster cooperation, training, shared programming and staffing. Reports to the Deputy Director. Works with other Regional Branch Managers and Department Managers to help achieve the vision, mission and goals of the Charleston County Public Library. Must be a forward thinker with demonstrated skills in the areas of technology and innovation. Must be a strong library advocate devoted to providing excellent customer service to the community. Must have the ability to exercise leadership and be able to motivate others to achieve these goals. Must be able to train and supervise staff and possess the necessary skills to motivate staff to be the best they can be. Ability to write concise reports, analyze community needs, the needs of the collection, the effectiveness of services and be able to communicate those needs to the appropriate departments and supervisors. Must be flexible and able to assume any additional responsibilities to maintain branch operation. Must have extensive knowledge of library principles, trends and administration; knowledgeable of Children's, Circulation and Reference services. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. LIBRARIAN III/ASSISTANT REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER AND REFERENCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT MANAGER-JOHN'S ISLAND REGIONAL: Full time position. Assists with the daily operation of a regional branch library, assumes responsibility for the operation of the branch in the absence of the branch manager, and manages the daily operation of the reference department. Supervises staff, including scheduling, goal-setting, performance evaluation, and payroll. Compiles statistics and writes reports. Responsible for the provision of reference services and programs for adults and teens. Models outstanding customer service and contributes to a positive team spirit. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; broad knowledge of library methods and procedures; a high aptitude for customer service; initiative; tact; and the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others. LIBRARIAN III/ BRANCH MANAGER - JAMES ISLAND LIBRARY:
An energetic, customer-focused individual is needed for the position of Branch Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service, assuring high productivity and maintaining high staff morale at a busy community library. The successful candidate should be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, innovative ideas and awareness of emerging trends, technologies and best practices in public library services. Must have strong computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Other duties as assigned. Individual must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when required. CONTENT MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR: The Content Management Coordinator is an integral position in the Office of Public Relations. The Coordinator will create content, edit content submissions and oversee the library's website, Intranet and social media accounts. Communication with the PR team and collaboration with library branch representatives is essential for content development. Additional duties include raising brand awareness and monitoring web traffic and metrics to identify best practices. The successful candidate will have proven communications experience with outstanding creative and technical writing skills, content management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure and effectively communicate with representatives from all levels of the organization. Experts in content optimization and brand consistency are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:
• Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing/communication goals
• Collaborate with Public Relations team to plan and develop site content, style and layout
• Create and publish engaging content on the website, Intranet and social media accounts
• Ensure that all documents and posts meet established content standards; work with developers to assess any technical challenges related to how content is displayed
• Edit, proofread and improve content submissions
• Liaise with content writers to ensure consistency
• Use content management systems to analyze website traffic and user engagement metrics

LIBRARIAN I - JOHN L. DART LIBRARY: Full time entry-level position available for an energetic, team-oriented librarian desiring supervisory experience. Provides library services for children age's birth through grade 5: plans and presents weekly story times and assesses effectiveness, programs special events, including summer reading program and community outreaches. Assists children and caregivers in use of library resource, provides reference and reader's advisory services. Serves as assistant branch manager, may supervise paraprofessional staff specializing in children's and young adult services; compiles statistical reports, performs collection maintenance and weeding.
Skills and abilities: Knowledge of fundamental public library principles, methods, materials, and practices. Knowledge of child development that supports the provision of developmentally appropriate resources and services. Knowledge of literature for children in traditional and emerging formats. Knowledge of basic library reference tools and services. Skill in operating a personal computer, utilizing standard software, and electronic resources as found in libraries. LIBRARY ASSISTANT V - REFERENCE SERVICES - MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL LIBRARY: Full-time position. Provide reader's advisory and information services to patrons of all ages at the Reference Services desk; with guidance from reference librarians, plan and provide in-house programs for adults on a variety of subjects and contribute to outreach to the adult population in the community; maintain assigned shelving area by processing new books, shelf reading, and weeding; prepare forms, flyers, and reports; may write branch newspaper column and/or branch blog about library services; other duties as assigned. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software and applications; MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, and social media experience a plus. LIBRARY ASSISTANT IV - CIRCULATION SUPERVISOR - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL:
As a circulation supervisor, you will be a member of the management team for a regional library who contributes to our inviting and innovative link to the world. Responsibilities include supervision of circulation support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing workroom operations. You will maintain statistical records of your department and recommend policy and procedural changes to the Regional Branch Manager or Main Library's Circulation Services Manager. Performs functions under guidance of the Adult Services Manager and a direct supervisor, including public service desk duties, interlibrary loan duties, routine library functions, assigned off-desk duties, and general clerical work. May also be required to shelve library materials. Requires basic knowledge of modern library organization, materials, procedures, policies, aims and services. LIBRARY ASSISTANT I - JAMES ISLAND BRANCH LIBRARY - CIRCULATION/CHILDREN'S SERVICES:
Part-time entry level position - twenty (20) hours per week. Perform routine circulation desk duties under professional supervision; carries out procedures set by supervisory staff; help patrons locate materials. Assists Children's Librarian with programs including story time and summer reading. Duties may include conducting story times for children birth through age five (5), preparing and conducting crafts. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software and applications - Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations. Shelving library materials may also be required.
