    • Abstract:
In this article, the author recommends to include fantasy books in children's libraries in Canada. She reflects on the release of the sixth book in the Harry Potter series that has once again focused attention on the fantasy genre in relation to young people. She observes that young people's fantasy authors like Jonathan Stroud and Philip Pullman have chosen to explore characters and themes which are less typically heroic, often amoral, and sometimes tending towards wickedness. She also offers some approaches for using fantasy books to explore the interest of children in reading.
