    • Abstract:
The article discusses the effectiveness of using fan fiction (fanfic) stories by youth and teen services librarians to connect with young patrons, particularly the shy ones. It cites as example the experience of North Liberty (Iowa) Community Library's Andrew Frisbie, who collaborated with young patrons in writing fanfic. Also cited are some examples of fanfic like William Shakespeare's work "Romeo and Juliet," and Sybil G. Brinton's "Old Friends and New Fancies."
