Are you passionate about technology? Do you love libraries? Charleston County Public Library is looking for the next IT wizard! This is an exciting time to join our IT Services department. Four new library building projects are underway, with 13 building renovations to follow. CCPL is also migrating to RFID, Self-check and Automated Material Handling.

Specific duties include:

  • Works closely with the IT Services Manager on system and network administration, domain management, and infrastructure and process improvement projects.
  • Supervises IT support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing projects.
  • Manages help desk staff providing daily support (assessment, evaluation, maintenance, and repair) for all PC systems (hardware and software) and their peripherals at all branches.
  • Escalates and coordinates issues with vendors when appropriate.
  • Responds to support issues, questions, comments, and requests in a courteous, timely manner.
  • Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning PC and audio-visual system use.
  • Keeps the IT Services Manager and local branch or department managers fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, training sessions, and reviews materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
  • Acts as a liaison between departments on related technological issues.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Four or more years of relatable systems administration experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 2019, and Office 365. Audio-visual systems (Crestron/Extron), Meraki platform, prior library or school IT experience preferred. The successful applicant must be skilled in communicating effectively and pleasantly with others, both orally and in writing, using technical and nontechnical language. Other duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend work included. Travel as needed between branches in Charleston County area. Must have the stamina for lifting equipment, as well as for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Salary: $52,582.40 - $59,217.60
