Part-time – thirty (30) hours per week. An energetic, customer focused and team oriented individual is needed for this position. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service. The successful candidate should be a team player with excellent inter-personal and communication skills, innovative ideas and awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing support staff including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing workroom operations. Provides general library services, including updating patron records, placing holds, locating materials, and issuing library cards. Managing adult programming for the branch. Assist patrons with use of print reference resources, with identifying and locating library materials using the library system catalog, with searching the Internet, and with using online databases.  Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of public library or related experience; or High School graduate or GED equivalent and 12 years of public library or related experience. Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, a strong work ethic. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting.  Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus. 

Hiring Salary Range:  $16.68 - $18.80 per hour depending on qualifications.
