Charleston County Public Library has a part time temporary position available for an individual with a background in statistics and data collection. The Data Analyst will provide recommendations and implement advanced statistical and computational methodologies that further promote the mission and goals of Charleston County Public Library. This position will design and implement new data collection methods for the organization in order to best communicate the impact of CCPL’s services and programs. This position requires the analyzation of large data sets from various sources in order to create predictive models and evaluate trends. Duties also include:

  • Evaluate current data collection practices.
  • Implement new or revised data collection practices in order to ensure best practices.
  • Manipulate, combine, and refine large databases to produce information suitable for analysis.
  • Perform detailed statistical analysis and research on Charleston County Public Library data.
  • Develop programs to create high quality tables, listings, and graphs for data visualization and information display.
  • Prepare and respond to requests for statistical analysis of library data in a timely manner.
  • Present findings in comprehensive report form (both written and verbal).
  • Produce documents related to CCPL data, including performing data analysis and preparing final reports.
  • Create graphics for data visualization and information display.

Deliverables will be divided into three categories:

  • Report on assessment of system’s data collection practices
  • Develop library performance tracking databases
  • Implement plan into operations; provide training for continued use in our system


  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in statistics, applied mathematics, data science, or engineering field.
  • Three years professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Access and other statistical analysis tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in developing statistical and data information from a variety of sources.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Salary: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour (depending on qualifications) working 20 – 25 hours per week. There is some flexibility with working at home and in the office.
