This article focuses on the work of author Joan Walsh Anglund as of September 1, 1999. There is a vast audience for her simple and spiritual philosophies. Readers who are not familiar with her best-sellers are still likely to know Anglund's artwork: her trademark soft ink-and-watercolor renderings of sweet-looking children, sporting stylized faces with wide eyes and no mouths are recognized around the globe. A career in creative arts seemed a natural pursuit for Anglund who was born in Hinsdale, Illinois in 1926. Anglund is currently working on children's book projects for numerous publishers including a Christmas anthology for Harcourt Brace due out next year and "Be My Friend" for Simon & Schuster.
