    • Abstract:
The article argues that, despite his ambition to be a transformational president for the Democratic Party as former U.S. president Ronald Reagan was for the Republican Party, U.S. president Barack Obama did not achieve the success that Reagan did. It compares the ideological success Obama had in moving the Democratic Party to the left, but points out that the Democratic Party held fewer legislative and gubernatorial seats as Obama leaves office than the Republican Party held when Reagan left office.
