    • Abstract:
Lincoln University's first Thurgood Marshall Award for Civil Rights was presented recently to Lee C. Bollinger, president of Columbia University. The presentation was made at Lincoln's 150th anniversary gala award reception held in New York City. The university is the alma mater of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Lincoln's President Ivory V. Nelson said the school thought it was appropriate to link the past with the present as it prepares for the future by creating this award out of the traditions of Marshall's life's work.
