IN CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS A MATTER THAT'S NOT PROVIDED FOR: MESSAGE PROBLEM (A SAMPLE OF ANNE TAVUK ANLATIYOR SERIES).

Precision to the upbringing of future generations is an indication of the importance of children's education. The raising and strengthening of the aesthetic (liking) level of the new generations under the leadership of wisdom and morality is the primary responsibility of education. On that sense children's picture books are a basic educational tool to contribute to the teaching-learning process. In this sense the quality of the messages in children's picture books has great importance. In this study, it is aimed to examine the stories in Christine Beigel's "Anne Tavuk Anlatıyor" is series in terms of negative messages. The 10 books in the series were evaluated based on the pre-service teachers and pre-school teachers who were studying in the department. In this work, which is structured qualitatively, the data is collected by means of a document review. Content analysis from qualitative analysis techniques is based on in the analysis of the data. According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that the books examined had a message about a hedonist way of life that could corrupt the values and weaken human relations. Besides, participants stated that the books were not designed in a holistic fiction, they had a superficial beginning and accelerated ends; the books offered negative messages to child readers such as violence, threats, unlimited consumption and misreporting gender roles. Gelecek kuşakların yetişmeleri konusundaki duyarlılık, çocukların eğitimine verilen önemin göstergesidir. Yeni kuşakların estetik (beğeni) düzeyinin akıl ve ahlak öncülüğünde yükseltilip güçlendirilmesi, eğitimin en başat sorumluluklarındandır. Resimli çocuk kitapları bu yönüyle öğrenme öğretme sürecine katkı sağlayacak temel bir eğitim aracıdır. Bu bağlamda resimli çocuk kitaplarındaki iletilerin niteliği büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmada Christine Beigel'in "Anne Tavuk Anlatıyor" serisindeki öyküleri olumsuz iletiler bakımından incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Serideki 10 kitap, okul öncesi öğretmenleri ve okul öncesi öğretmenliği ana bilim dalında öğrenim gören öğretmen adaylarının belirlemeleri üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Nitel desende yapılandırılmış olan bu çalışmada veriler doküman incelemesi yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde nitel analiz tekniklerinden içerik analizi temel alınmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre incelenen kitapların değerleri yozlaştırabilecek, insan ilişkilerini zayıflatabilecek hedonist (hazcı) bir yaşam tarzına ilişkin iletiler sunduğu belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte katılımcılar kitapların bütüncül bir kurgu içinde tasarlanmadığını, yüzeysel bir başlangıca ve hızlandırılmış sonlara sahip olduğunu; çocuk okura şiddet, tehdit, sınırsız tüketim ve cinsiyet rollerini yanlış aktarma gibi olumsuz iletiler sunduğunu ifade etmişlerdir.
