      Migration from African countries has increased substantially in the last three decades, during which it went from 1 per cent in the 1990s to 31 per cent in the mid-2000s, according to the Pew Research Center. Over the past decade, migrants accounted for 47 per cent of the increase in the workforce in the US and for over 70 per cent of the increase in Europe, as reported by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
