THE EUCHARIST IN CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE'S PURPLE HIBISCUS.

L'eucaristia nel romanzo Ibisco viola di Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The author, rereading some of the provocations present in the African novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, entitled Purple Hibiscus - in which problems and challenges emerge about the family, the church, the faith, the mission, the Eucharist, the way of proclaiming the Gospel and confronting those who do not believe -, offers interesting reflections on the relationship between the Eucharist and life, welcoming others and dialogue with non-believers. An attempt is made to open a dialogue with a Catholic vision of the sacraments and of church life itself which does not help to bring out all the beauty and originality of the Gospel. The importance of literature is recognized for theological formation and as a contribution to church doctrine and theological research. The Eucharist no longer appears as the sacrament of those who are perfect, but of those who need forgiveness and meet Jesus Christ. Furthermore, this sacrament is not the exclusive property of the priest who celebrates the memorial, but a gift from the whole community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

L'autore, rileggendo alcune provocazioni presenti nel romanzo africano di Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, intitolato Purple Hibiscus - in cui emergono problematiche e sfide circa la famiglia, la Chiesa, la fede, la missione, l'eucaristia, il modo di annunciare il Vangelo e di confrontarsi con chi non crede -, offre delle interessanti riflessioni proprio sul rapporto tra eucaristia e vita, accoglienza del prossimo e dialogo con i non credenti. Si tenta di aprire un dialogo con una visione cattolica dei sacramenti e della stessa vita di Chiesa che non aiuta a far emergere tutta la bellezza e l'originalità del Vangelo. Si riconosce l'importanza della letteratura per la formazione teologica e come contributo alla dottrina della Chiesa e alla ricerca teologica. L'eucaristia non appare più come il sacramento di chi è perfetto, bensì di chi ha bisogno di perdono e di incontrare Gesù Cristo. Inoltre, questo sacramento non è di esclusiva proprietà del presbitero che celebra il memoriale, bensì dono di tutta la comunità. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
