    • Abstract:
The article demystifies the supposed negative attitudes and destructive behavior of the Arabs toward the ancient Egyptian past and its monuments. Topics covered include the myth that Arab conquerors of Egypt burnt all the books in the Great Library when they captured Alexandria, the use of ancient Egyptian temples and other stone structures as sources of building materials and the limitation faced by medieval Muslim writers on ancient Egypt.
