    • Abstract:
Additionally, Chapter 10 of the first edition - a "motley crew" of content - has been split in two in the second edition, resulting in more focussed content in both cases. The early chapters (Chapters 1-5) provide a chronological approach to the search for patterns among the chemical elements, with one whole chapter (Chapter 4) devoted to the contributions of Mendeléev. "The Forms of the Periodic Table" is the title of the new Chapter 13; while "More Chemistry", the new Chapter 14, emphasises linkages in chemical properties, often unexpected ones.
