      The article informs that a seminar was hosted by the American University of Beirut's Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship on June 21, 2021 about how women's rights activism in the Middle East has been impacted by political unrest and the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Aliaa Awada, founder of the Beirut-based feminist organization Fe-male, the pandemic along with economic and political crises of Lebanon, have placed a tremendous strain on women.
