Born: ca. 1985 Occupation: Writer Teacher, columnist, and entrepreneur Kelly Yang's first middle-grade novel, Front Desk, is loosely based on her own childhood experiences as a Chinese American immigrant working in motels with her family. PARACHUTES Yang moved from middle grade fiction to young adult fiction with her 2020 novel Parachutes.
