    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the allegation by an African American woman that three lacrosse players of Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, assaulted and raped her. The rape accusation has left university administrators with questions. They acknowledge that the incident has exposed persistent problems in campus culture. Many students protested what they considered a slow initial response to the incident by Duke's administration. On March 13, 2006, during the university's spring break, the men's lacrosse team threw a party at an off-campus house. They hired two strippers, got drunk, and became rowdy.
