      The article presents information on the Rostov region, which provides the best glimpse of how the Cossacks lived, and a great place for excursions. Rostov-on-Don, sometimes called as the capital of Southern Russia, was located some 1,000 miles south of Moscow and was the center of Rostov region. Novocherkassk, which was founded in 1805, became the center of Cossak revival after the fall of Communism. Azov was once a major trading outpost which was founded by the Greeks.
