    • Abstract:
The article presents a letter from the editor of "Educational Studies" concerning the August 2006 issue. The issue focuses on a reconsideration of Jonathan Kozol's "Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools," which was initially published in 1991. The work discussed the school system in East St. Louis, Illinois and the South Bronx, New York, by analyzing the structures of school inequality racial segregation, and the beliefs that protect privilege. Contributors to the issue return to East St. Louis to see what, if anything, has changed.
