      In this article the author describes the city of Calcutta, India and advises would-be tourists to visit the city, despite its fearsome reputation. He discusses the vestiges of the British Raj that can still be seen in the city, with particular emphasis on the Victoria Memorial, a monument to Queen Victoria erected in the early 20th century. The author visits a number of Anglo-Indian cemeteries.
