    • Abstract:
The article focuses on research which examined the effect the international influenza pandemic of 1918 had on poor and/or developing countries such as India and Iran. Researchers found that poor populations endured a much larger burden of disease and death from the pandemic than wealthier developed countries. A statistical analysis of the correlation between income and mortality in the 1918 pandemic is discussed. An examination of the effect a similar pandemic would have on the world's population in 2007 is presented.
