    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for preventing the transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in various health care settings. Such MDROs include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, and certain Gram-negative bacteria. It has been pointed out that hand hygiene and other basic infection control practices are the first line of defense against the spread of any type of bacteria.
