      The article presents the findings of a report prepared by the Silent Spring Institute which gives a comprehensive list of chemicals in found in food, air and water that may cause breast cancer. Some of the most common compounds cited include: acrylamide, formed when starchy foods are heated to high-temperatures; perfluorooctanoic acid, a coating used on rugs, furniture, clothes and cookware; and malachite green, a textile dye also used as an antifungal agent in fish hatcheries.
