      The article investigates how to occupy kindergarten children for an entire library lesson. According to the author, one of the most powerful ways is to incorporate shared reading use a big book written for early reading skills instead of just an enlarged version of a story. The many ways shared reading can be used to help students are considered including to teach about the parts of books, showcase illustrations to help them predict the storyline and teach the conventions of print. Setting the scene of the story to children before reading and encouraging them to become detectives to find things in the story are discussed.
