    • Abstract:
The article presents a series of poems written by Chinese immigrants that were carved into the walls of the Angel Island Immigration Station in San Francisco Bay in California. Each poem in the article contains four lines, seven characters per line. Almost 175,000 Chinese immigrants were processed and detained at Angel Island between 1910 and 1940, the article states. Topics include the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 that made Angel Island become a deportation and detention site and its prison-like atmosphere.
