The article offers information on the Children's Choice Book Awards presented during the gala on May 12, 2009 at the Edison ballroom in New York City. The award is said to be the only child-selected awards program in the U.S. because its winners were chose through the votes of children. In addition, several books which won the award in 2009 include "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy," written and illustrated by Mo Willems, "Spooky Cemeteries," by Dinah Williams and "Thirteen," by Laureen Myracle.
