"Someone is looking at me still": The Audience-Creature Relationship in the Theater Plays of Samuel Beckett.

This essay explores the nature and development of a type of audience and stage transaction in the theater plays of playwright Samuel Beckett. It examines the relationship between Beckett's creatures of illusion and the audience, which was altered over the course of his career that spanned four decades. It conceives this development in three chronological movements corresponding to the exploitation of the relationship between the auditorium and the stage by Beckett. It also explores how Beckett made metaphors of his stages, particularly in his work "Endgame."
