    • Abstract:
The article offers information on the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, Japan, in 1942 by the U.S. forces. To retaliate against Japan, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt planned an air raid on the Japanese Home Islands, to show that the U.S. still had the power to strike back. On April 2, 1942, on the deck of the USS Hornet were sixteen U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombers, and the team of 71 officers and 130 enlisted men were led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, who planned the operation.
