    • Abstract:
What does man do when the boundaries of his world, of words, are reached? How does art, as an ontological barrier constructor, along with religion, science and philosophy, serve to hold man in so he can avoid precipating into nothing? Man has three artistic resour-ces to avert this fatal fate: the aesthetic of ugliness, minimalism, and the almost dilution of language. Nonfigurative pain-ting, that is the representation eluding the representation of the existent --even geometry--, dangerously approaches to nothing. However, it is stillan inhabitant of this world. To face the abovementio-ned questions, this article aims at clea-ring what is figurative regarding what it is not, as well as abstract art and non-abstract art. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
