      This article deals with the decision of the Australian and New Zealand governments to reduce various government programs and establish more free market economies after a century of socialism. Both countries accepted socialism for decades because it brings prosperity to their economies. However, it is apparent that both countries also had to deal with the consequences of government ownership, regulation, and income distribution. Both these settler nations reflect a story of how some nineteenth-century English notions were implemented in the most favorable environment.
