    • Abstract:
The late 18th century had witnessed the beginning of various Christian missionary activities in the Ottoman Empire and during the early years of the 19th century these activities gained spread. The missionary organizations were, no doubt, religiously motivated and they were supported by the rulers of their home countries. The British Evangelical Missionaries was one of such missionary organizations in the Ottoman Empire. This missionary organization was established in 1854 under the name of "Turkish Missions Aid Society", but later it was renamed as Biblelands. The archives of this organization which include documents dating from the very beginning of this missionary organization until 1996, has been opened by Birmingham University in 2005 for academic research. This article aims to introduce the Biblelands missionary archives, which have not yet been used by Turkish researchers, and to assess their historical importance for Ottoman studies.
