The article presents a reply from the authors to Thure E. Cerling and colleagues, in response to an article by them on the use of stable isotopes to understand the environment of Aramis, Ethiopia. According to the authors, the isotopic evidence may suggest large wooded grassland, but this does not necessarily mean that there will be absence of denser wooded habitats that are predominantly occupied by Ardipithecus ramidus.
