    • Abstract:
Six Democratic House members joined congressional representative Bernard Sanders of Vermont to announce a two-pronged approach to combat the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) recently approved relaxed media ownership rules. Sanders said he would introduce immediate legislation to repeal the rule, and congressional representative Maurice Hinchey of New York would consider at the issue by introducing a bill that would re-establish the public's control of its airwaves. Hinchey also said he would seek an amendment to the spending bill for the fiscal year 2004 Commerce-Justice-State appropriations bill to prevent the FCC from spending money to implement its new rule.
