    • Abstract:
Standing in front of officials representing several trucking industry organizations and stakeholders, Andrew Wheeler, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), recently issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking calling for public participation in drafting the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI), first introduced in November 2018. EPA began more strictly regulating the industry in 2001, forcing trucks manufactured after Jan. 1, 2010, to reduce PM emissions to 0.01 grams per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp-hr.) and NOx emissions to 0.20 g/bhp-hr.
