    • Abstract:
Surgeons group has deal to sell Lake Shore Drive mansion: One of two neighboring vintage mansions owned by the International College of Surgeons, it first went on the market at $17 million in 2015. In the early 1990s, the surgeons group had a deal with a developer who wanted to build a 41-story condo tower on the site of the two mansions, preserving only their facades. In the early 1950s, Chicago surgeon Max Thorek, a founder of the Geneva-based International College of Surgeons, bought the mansions at 1516 and 1524 N. Lake Shore Drive and gave them to the society for its headquarters and museum. [Extracted from the article]
