The article looks back at the history of the American Craft Council (ACC) that shows its role in making connections with artists. The first Conference of American Craftsmen was held at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in California in June 1957. The 1962 exhibit "Collaboration: Artist and Architect" held at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts explored partnership between architects and artists. The Young Americans competitions that began in 1950 aimed to launch the careers of emerging artists.
