    • Abstract:
The article presents information on a survey by the Donors Forum of Chicago, an association of area charitable foundations, which tracks giving by companies with formal charity operations in Illinois. The Donors Forum found that annual donations by such programs fell 22% between 2001 and 2003, to $290 million, in part because of a 14% decline in the number of the programs. Chuck Thurow, executive director of the Hyde Park Arts Center, says a recent drive to raise $5.7 million didn't net a single six-figure donation from a corporation, but drew 15 such gifts mostly from individuals.
