      The article presents the opinion of the author on the economic policy and conditions of South Carolina. According to the author South Carolina continues to enjoy a rich agricultural trade, and manufacturing remains viable, due in part to industry clustering. The tourism industry has continually served as the economic bedrock of the state and generating tax revenue that can be invested in research and technology development needed to transition South Carolina into a knowledge-based economy.
