    • Abstract:
The article reports on the dismissal of the computer software piracy charges against Russian school principal Alexander Ponosov in Russia. He was charged with a copyright law violation after 12 computers have been seized by police from his school in the country. This case became known when former President Mikhail S. Gorbachev wrote Bill Gates of Microsoft Corp., asking for an intervention in the issue. However, he asserted that he bought the computers with the software preinstalled. A regional Russian court dropped the charges due to lack of evidence.
