    • Abstract:
This article reports on the complaints of consumer groups against Internet advertisement provider DoubleClick with regards to privacy. The Center for Democracy & Technology launched in February 2000 a site aimed at exposing DoubleClick and helping consumers opt out of personal information collection. DoubleClick has the systems to profile a user based on name, address, demographics and online/offline purchasing data. Meanwhile, DoubleClick stated that the articles that have appeared in the press conveyed the false impression that the firm links personally identifiable information without giving consumers notice and choice.
