      Chapter 48 of the book "Sports Marketing 2011" is presented. It provides an overview of events for athletes with disabilities in the U.S. Paralympic sports is governed by the U.S. Paralympics. The Summer and Winter Paralympic Games hosted by the International Paralympic Committee are recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The 2010 Winter Paralympics features alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, sledge hockey and wheelchair curling. Sponsors for the 2010 Special Olympics include Disney Media Networks and Lions Club International.
