    • Abstract:
The author argues that people of color are the ones who have the most faith in the American Dream as of 2016, and it mentions what the author refers to as the pride and pitfalls of being a black role model. U.S. President Barack Obama and Misty Copeland, the first black female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, are examined in relation to the diligence, discipline, and perseverance of African Americans. Affirmative action programs and police-related killings are assessed.
