      An editorial is presented which addresses a collaborative effort involving local public health and hospital emergency departments to combat an opioid epidemic in Baltimore, Maryland, and it mentions how most of the city's drug overdoses involve opioids such as heroin and fentanyl. The Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) and the Maryland SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) health care initiative are assessed.
