    • Abstract:
The article describes the most pressing public health emergency of 2020: human consumption and corporate overreach. These systems are degrading ecosystems and driving more than a million species into extinction, including humans. The World Health Organization estimates that avoidable environmental risk factors cause 12.6 million deaths each year, putting indigenous peoples, the poor and communities of color most at risk. The author suggests there be an establishment of the legal rights of nature: this includes lakes, oceans, rivers, trees, plants, insects, animals and humans.
