    • Abstract:
The author reflects on the failure of the U.S. to uphold racial justice and equality as reflected by the civil unrest following the deaths of several African Americans on the hands of the police. He cites efforts by U.S. writer and critic James Baldwin to depict the sufferings of African Americans including his book "No Name in the Street." He also mentions filmmaker Dick Fontaine's documentary film "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" which depicts Black-freedom struggle.
