      The article discusses aim of South African National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) to provide nutritious meals to pupils to improve ability to learn and mentions issues of underachievement in schools due to lack of nutrition. Topics discussed include funding of the programme through the conditional grant transferred to provinces on quarterly basis, soya served at schools and changes in the food system seen due to focus on health and nutrition.
