    • Abstract:
The article reports that the ninth annual New York International Fringe Festival, which opens on August 12, will begin its first wave of performances with the largest advance sale in its history. As of August 8, ticket sales reached $100,000, easily outpacing the record-setting box office of 2004, when the total hit $100,000 only the day before performances began. Signs that this year's torrid ticket-selling pace would easily outdo last year's became clear almost from the moment tickets went on sale on July 30. Shortly thereafter, the festival's press representative Ron Lasko announced that first-day sales were up 45% over 2004.
